Personal Training

  • Personal training refers to our one on one training methods.Mustanger will instruct you personally to train you and your horse.

  • Mustanger prefers to instruct one student at a time so the student and horse may learn at their own pace.It is so he can show you all the moves and answer any questions the student may have.

  • Mustanger makes sure that you fully understand the instructions and perform them well.He also explains the why it is necessary to get our horse to perform these moves.

  • Mustanger enjoys teaching you to train your horse. He performs the lesson first, then turns the reins over to the student to perform the lesson with step by step, hands on instruction.

  • When you start to see the change in your horse and see a willing partnership emerge, your life with your horse will be forever changed and you will have gained the knowledge of foundation training.

  • Bill Gibert and Beau.(Riddle,Oregon)

Beau is an Appoloosa/Arab cross foaled from Bill's mare Missy.

Bill sent Beau to 2 other trainers before he came to us for help. Bill is 73 and has dreamed of riding his horse Beau before he is unable to ride due to his age and health.

Bill is a good ol' cowboy from way back and has a family history of trainers. He refuses to give up riding until he is forced to.

The photograph above was taken the first time Bill was able to ride his horse after a short lesson with Mustanger, the day after Bill's 73rd birthday. Bill Gilbert was quoted as saying " This is the best birthday gift I have ever received".

    George Gibson and Willie. (Azalea,Oregon)

Willie is a 4 year old Appaloosa gelding.

George had sent Willie to 2 other trainers because of behavioral trouble with his horse.Willie still occasionally sent George walking home when trail riding near Georges ranch.

George was very dissatisfied with the training the horse had recieved from the previous trainers. George was so fed up with his horse that he put him up for sale.

He had met Mustanger 2 years earlier and now sought him out for help. George thought his horse was incapable of learning. The first question Bill posed to George was "Do you like and want to keep your horse?",George answered "Yes" and the rest is history.

George is going on his second year with Mustanger's training program and is very satisfied with the results. They have become good friends and ride often together.George and Mustanger plan to start Team Penning in the fall together.

    Phylla Kirkpatric and Rosie (Glendale,Oregon)

Phylla came to us in 2004 after 2 riding accidents forced her to seek help. She was a novice rider with a well trained, but disrespectful horse that took full advantage of the novice rider.

We ran Rosie through our respect course and watched the changes begin.

We showed Phylla natural riding techniques and the proper signals to operate her horse.Phylla is one of Mustangers best students.

Phylla's lost her fear in riding her horse and has graduated to a higher level of horsemanship. The hard part now is getting her off her horse after the lessons over because we put the fun back in to riding for her and her horse.

Phylla is also continuing to the advanced 2nd year level of our program in the spring,2005. Mustanger also works with 3 other horses owned by the Kirkpatrick's.

    Wally Eaton and Red (Lookingglass,Oregon)

Red, is a Red Roan Mustang from wild stock.

Wally came to us in 2003 looking for someone to help train his horse, Red. Red, had never been handled except when he was being bribed with grain, Wally could touch his face but that was all.

Wally also wanted to learn to train Red, himself.Like a lot of people before him,he bought the videos of a popular trainer but was still confused where to start. He asked for Mustanger's help to get started.

Wally's horse Red is one of the most pleasurable horses that Mustanger has ever trained in his carear.

Red is extremely personable and has learned faster than any other horse Mustanger has ever trained.

Mustanger says that "I would like to own 100 more horses like Red, He's my favorite horse". Unfortunately for Mustanger,Wally won't part with his best friend Red, but Mustanger is welcome to ride him anytime he wishes.
