30/60 DAY GREEN TRAINING PROGRAM

  • Like humans, horses learn at different rates. It all depends on the individual horse. The breed makes no difference and plays no role in the learning curve of the horse.

  • Horses have been observed since ancient times .There seems to be a correlation between the shape of the horses head as to the personality and trainability of any given horse. We find this to ring true and use it as a rule of thumb to aid us in our training Program.

  • When it comes to horses, it takes longer to correct a bad habit than it does to learn one. Given this, it may take more time for your horse to graduate our 30 Day Green Break Program.

  • Our 30 Day Green Break Program works well for willing horses if the owner/rider will be riding/working their horse on a very regular schedule and you are a well experienced rider.

  • We will spend 3 days (6 hours total) teaching you how to operate your horse under saddle (experienced or novice riders).

  • If you are a novice rider, you may wish to enroll in our rider training program (spring-fall classes) after your horse has graduated our program.

  • If you are a weekend rider, have a problem horse or your horse has had no formal training at all, we recommend our 60 Day Well Green Break Program to make your horse as light as we are able. It means that your horse will work off of subtle signals and light pressure.

  • We strive to make your horse respectful, calm, gentle and responsive to its rider.

  • We transform your naturally reactive horse into a thinking horse.

  • I SAID WHOA HORSE!
  • One of the first "in the saddle" lessons that we teach your horse is the "one rein stop". It's the best emergency brake that anyone can teach a horse and is taught at all three gates. It's the safest way to stop a horse when things go wrong.

  • We also teach your horse to ride on a "loose rein", it's a riders dream!

  • Your horse is taught to respond to light pressure, voice command and hand signals.

  • Would you like your horse to come to you when you ask it to? We don't chase our horses. Our horses free range on the ranch which consist of nearly a square mile of land. We just don't have that much energy to chase them down. They come to us when we ask them to.

  • We'll make your horse easy to catch. If you have that hard to catch horse, you will most likely get more exercise than the horse, it looks like an olympic event to your neighbors and you are rarely successful in the capture. We can help!

  • We teach your Horse to give the rider full control of all its body parts willingly. It makes an high energy or excitable horse easy to manage.

  • We search out as many bad habits that your horse may have and correct them while in our care.

  • We, as horse owners, will never know all the things that may frighten or excite our horse but we can prepare you and your horse to deal with and overcome it fears safely.

  • While your horse is being trained , we invite you to come witness 1 day per week (by appt. only) the progress that your horse is making with us. Most of or clients comment that they get worn out by just watching one of or training sessions. It is a very unique experience.
